Tom's Guide describes a Belkin dock whose USB ports do not all serve the same role. Some are intended for data transfer, while others add different charging or display capabilities. The product also combines networking, card slots and other connectors, illustrating why a large port count needs closer inspection.

Before choosing a similar hub, separate the connections needed for peripherals from those needed for a display and the laptop's power supply. Review the specifications for each port instead of expecting every USB-C socket to behave alike. The report concerns an announced product lineup, so confirm the current model and compatibility before buying.
