The TBT3-UDV Front USB Port Has a Charging Advantage
Plugable specifies USB Battery Charging 1.2 support on the TBT3-UDV's single front USB 3.0 port. That port supplies up to 1.5A at 5V, while the four rear ports supply standard USB 3.0 power. Choosing a port therefore affects charging behavior as well as cable placement.

The dock does not act as an independent charger when its host is disconnected, powered off, or asleep. Plugable recommends a dedicated charger for that use. Include this limitation when planning a desk that needs to charge phones overnight without leaving its laptop active and connected to the docking station.
Its front connection supports BC 1.2, while the rear ports provide ordinary USB peripheral power.
